Frequent Asked Questions
Since we are cash-based, we are unable to see children with Medicaid. Missouri Medicaid does not allow for cash-based services.
Short answer: No. Long answer: Littlefoot Pediatric Therapy is a self-pay practice. Although we do not go through insurance, we can provide a superbill upon request for potential reimbursement. Reimbursement is not guaranteed and would be reimbursed to you directly from your insurance.
These terms mean that you are paying for medical services (in this case physical therapy or infant massage) without going through your insurance. This means you pay out-of-pocket for the services and insurance is not involved at all. Littlefoot Pediatric Therapy utilizes this cash-based model in order to take limitations (that insurance typically enforces) out of the equation, allowing for fully individualized care based on your child’s needs, for as long as you need.
A superbill is an itemized receipt of your payments you made for services that you paid Littlefoot Pediatric Therapy for. This will be provided to you at request only and submitted to your insurance by you.
In Missouri, a patient is allowed to be evaluated and treated for 30 days (or 10 visits) without a referral from a physician. If treatment is deemed necessary beyond that by the physical therapist, Littlefoot Pediatric Therapy will contact your physician for a referral or signature from a recent document.
Evaluations are up to 90 minutes (typically around 60 minutes) and treatment sessions are anywhere from 30 to 60 minutes.
If you could have your child dress in clothing that is easy to remove (if infant) and comfortable. We would prefer shorts and a t-shirt in order for the physical therapist to evaluate how your child moves easier. Please have a pair of shoes that your child typically wears.
Littlefoot Pediatric Therapy can treat children of all ages (up to 18 years old). When we contact a parent/guardian, the physical therapist will ask questions to ensure the child is a good fit for the practice. We do not want to hinder any potential progress if they would be better fit for a different clinic.
Tethered oral tissues refer to tongue ties, lip ties, or buccal ties. Littlefoot Pediatric Therapy can evaluate the need for further assessment by an IBCLC, speech pathologist, or release provider. We provide bodywork before and after a tie release or in the absence of a release if a qualified professional deems a release not necessary. Dr. Nicole is specially trained in tethered oral tissues and is able to provide oral motor services.
Payment is due at the time of service. We accept cash or payments through Square or Venmo. We can take HSA payments through Square.
